Safety and aesthetics at the Pohoda festival
Our domes are often compared to similar products. But when it comes to the topic of structural safety, most of those who offer “similar” products have little to say.
Aesthetics and safety in the event industry must be inseparable.
It started well, as an interesting gig for Notino at the famous Pohoda festival in Trenčín (Slovakia).
The setup built inside our dome was really attractive, and the dome carried two heavy screens without any problems.
And that was supposed to be the hallmark of this blog, and then it went in a different direction.
On the second day, we received a call that a storm was in progress.
A huge supercell storm ravaged the area of the airport in Trenčín where the festival was held, and unfortunately there were also injuries at the festival.
A large number of prefabricated buildings and accessories did not suffer damage – they collapsed completely. Part of the report on that storm can be found on NME – tent collapses injuring 29, Refresher News sk, TA13 Pohoda
Our domes have gone through several such events over the past 15 years and have proven to be very stable and durable in these cases. It was the same this time.
There is a reason why some products (like ours) sometimes cost a little more. Our domes have official static calculations and we follow them to avoid situations that could result in unwanted consequences.
So when hiring temporary facilities, think twice. As much as it sometimes seems the opposite – money is still not the most important item. When people die, it’s too late.
